LibreCrawl can crawl a site and flag the usual technical problems, but it cannot ship every analysis anyone might want. The compliance check a healthcare SEO needs, the report format one agency's clients expect, the scoring model a team has refined over years: those are all reasonable things to want and unreasonable things to put in a general purpose crawler.
The plugin system exists so those live outside the core, and the Workshop exists so they can be found. A plugin is one JavaScript file that registers itself, gets a tab in the UI, and receives the crawl data already on screen.
